Jordanian weightlifter Omar Qarada made history on Wednesday by securing Jordan's first gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Qarada achieved this remarkable feat in weightlifting, successfully completing all three attempts and lifting 176kg, which placed him at the top of the global rankings.

His qualification for the Paris Paralympics followed his gold medal win at the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia.
